Marwan Kassab-Bachi

Painter known for his monumental, expressive head studies that explored the psychological complexity of displacement and identity. Born in Damascus, he moved to Berlin in 1957 and was appointed full professor at the Hochschule der Künste in 1980. His works are held by the Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, British Museum, and Carnegie Museum of Art.
